Non comedo-what??

Non comedogenic makeup - scratching your head yet? If you suffer from acne, you especially need to know this term, or at least what it means to you and the health of your skin. A lot of the more popular brands we buy contain ingredients that can clog your pores. Non-comodegenic make up does not..and if you were like me this would have been valuable, oh say 15 years ago!! It's a vicious cycle of sorts. Wash face, prime face, concealer, foundation, repeat. Whoa, where'd that pimple come from?? Of course, it is recommended to talk to your dermatologist about what ingredients may pose an allergic reaction, and which product lines are your best bet. Also, both Ulta and Sephora's web sites allow you to search for non comodegenic makeup, view ingredients and browse user reviews. Physician's Formula is one of the most featured product lines and can be worn alone or with makeup. Take care beauties, and remember beautiful skin is always in!

FUNKY FRESH!

We are so close to seeing the first month of the New Year come to an end. How are we doing on those resolutions? Cleaned out your closet? Lost 5 lbs? Relax! It's okay and perfectly NORMAL to be a bit sluggish right after the holidays :)

Stylepraise at Latino Fashion Week

Yours truly had the pleasure of attending Latino Fashion Week's Art in Fashion Extravaganza fashion show at the Zhou B Arts Center in Chicago. WGN's Lourdes Duarte was the evening's emcee, and featured designers were Claudia Arce, Paco Mayorga, Tamaris Rubio, and Jorge de la Habana. Arbonne was the official beauty and skin care sponsor. Attendees included designers, fashion models, local business people, actors, vendors, etc. To see all of our pics from the runway, check out our Facebook album. We can't wait until next year!

20 Questions with Johnny Jamison by Etienne Carignan

1.  Tell our readers about your history as a stylist
JJ: I have spent the last 31 years as a hairdresser. After completing both grad school and beauty college, I worked at a boutique for 10 months. While there I met a coworker Craig Campfield, who was a make up artist at the time. He told me about a friend of his - Tom Hayden, who was in the process of opening a salon [Tom is an internationally world-renowned stylist]. I worked for him for 4 years. This is where I learned business management, how to operate a salon efficiently, the retail side of the business, how to run a reception desk, and how to assist other stylists (co-workers).
